"But I don't have a car"

What is Ignition Interlock?

A deep lung breath analyzer placed on a person’s vehicle, designed to prevent a driver from operating a vehicle when their breath alcohol concentration is at or above a predetermined limit, which is .025 in Washington State.

How does it work?

Simply put, a person must blow into an “in-the-car breath-analyzer” (which is approximately the size of a cellular phone), for 6 seconds before they can start the vehicle. If the emitted breath sample is analyzed over the authorized limit the vehicle will not start, leaving the vehicle immobilized.

In Summary:

Ignition Interlock is a proven and SMART deterrent in separating drinking from driving.  Smart Start, Inc. has locations throughout Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas and Washington State.
