IS YOUR LICENSE SUSPENDED?

NEW LAWS NOW MAKE YOU

ELIGIBLE TO DRIVE BEFORE

YOU EVER THOUGHT POSSIBLE!

A new law has opened the door for

thousands of previously suspended

drivers to become re-licensed.  If you

lost your license due to a DUI, you

may now qualify for an occupational

restricted license (ORL).  The ORL

improves the previous occupational

license law by expanding eligibility--

not just for work but also for school,

medical care, care of a dependent,

and for other purposes. Wait times for

relicensing are minimized from two

or three years to one year and from one

year to 90 days.  You are probably

eligible even if you refused a breath test.

HOW TO APPLY

To obtain an ORL, you need to get  insurance, install an ignition interlock device, and submit an application with the Department of Licensing (DOL).  Forms for application and instructions are available at the DOL website (www.dol.wa.gov) . First check with DOL (360-902-3900) or your lawyer to see exactly when you are eligible.  Then make arrangements for your insurance and schedule an appointment with Smart Start® for installation of your state-certified ignition interlock device.  Once you have completed the application process, your driving privilege should be restored in seven to 10 days.
